Thank you for being part of the Marist Rugby Club community. We ask all coaches, managers, and volunteers for the 2025 Rugby season to acknowledge and support the Sports Code of Conduct, committing to uphold its values while treating others with respect and fostering positive relationships, both in person and online.

ALL PLAYERS, COACHES, MANAGERS, VOLUNTEERS AND PARENTS OR SPECTATORS ARE EXPECTED TO RESPECT THE RIGHTS, DIGNITY  AND WORTH OF ALL PARTICIPANTS REGARDLESS OF THEIR GENDER, ABILITY, CULTURAL BACKGROUND OR RELIGION.

MRC CODE OF CONDUCT

As a coach, manager, or club volunteer, I commit to upholding and demonstrating the following values throughout the 2025 rugby season:

  • Encourage players to display good sportsmanship and to participate within the spirit of the game always respecting the importance of fair play.
  • Teach players the rules of the game and ensure they observe them.
  • Develop in players, respect for opponents, officials and opposing coaches.
  • Provide positive feedback when players improve their skills or performance and help them acquire a sense of achievement when this occurs.
  • Remember that young people participate for pleasure and that winning is only part of the process.
  • Remember that players need coaches and managers they can respect, so set a good example by displaying control, respect and professionalism to all involved with the sport.
  • Keep informed of current coaching principles and the principles of growth and development of students of all ages.
  • Be committed to remove verbal and physical abuse from all activities.
  • Be reasonable in your demands on player’s time, energy and enthusiasm.
  • Show concern and caution towards sick and injured players. Follow medical advice when determining whether an injured player is ready to recommence training or competition.
  • Ensure that any physical contact between yourself and a young person is appropriate to the situation and necessary for the player’s skill development or safety.
  • Promote good sportsmanship and help build positive relationships with volunteers and representatives from other schools as we support our boys to enjoy the game.
  • Model the highlest level of beaviour to set the standard for our MRC community.

I commit to upholding the Marist College Canberra Sports Code of Conduct and will consistently demonstrate the values and behaviours expected of me in this role.
