Reuben Keane

Keane has been refereeing since his early teens, he followed his father into the refereeing sphere as a teenager, happy to blow the whistle when he wasn’t playing the game. In 2019 he retired from playing to focus entirely on refereeing, while juggling his job as an ccountant. Keane refereed as an assistant the 2018 Commonwealth Games as a 19-year old. In October 2021, he was an assistant referee during the 2021 Rugby Championship. He spent the 2021 Super Rugby AU season doing his apprenticeship on the touch line, and on 16 February 2022, he was announced as a referee for the 2022 Super Rugby Pacific season. Reuben made his Super Rugby refereeing debut on 26th February during the Brumbies v Fijian Drua. Keane is currently contractedby Rugby AU, and is refereeing on the HSBC World 7s Series, working towards the 2024 Paris Olympics.
